LTE to San Diego Union by Tim Kline - Climate bloopers
In response to “Dutch say they erred in climate-change study,” (July 6), I find all the hoopla over the bloopers in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report to be quite tiresome. The report’s major concepts are sound: Climate change is real, it is man-made and it poses a major threat to society. When the report is 99.9 percent correct, I tend to focus on that mountain of evidence, forgiving the occasional errors as inevitable. If the IPCC is not enough to convince San Diegans of climate change’s grave threat, the National Academy of Sciences’ findings, California Academy of Sciences’ reports, or our own San Diego Natural History Museum and Scripps Research Institute are in agreement: Climate change is real, it is man-made and it poses a major threat to society. For the sake of our planet and our children, the hoopla is better served discussing climate solutions, not climate bloopers.
