Hi Marshall, I just sent the following to John McCain’s website:

I like much that John McCain offers the American public, including his views on global warming. I am leaning toward voting for him, although I usually vote Democrat. I and many others want to know that he is committed to changing policies quickly to get us on a greener path and to reduce greenhouse gases. He has said good things, but I hear his record on voting is dismal. Among other missed opportunities, it would be good if he would explain why he did not vote on 12/13/07 on the Senate Amendment to HR 6. In that regard, please note a letter to the editor I have been circulating, and I am aware of others raising similar questions:

Letter to the Editor:

On March 28, 2008, this paper reported the House had approved rescinding nearly $18 billion over ten years in tax breaks for big oil by passing H.R. 5351, the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Act of 2008. Those same companies posted record profits of $123 billion last year. As a nation, it is time to promote broad-scale green policies, with concomitant reduction of subsidies of dirty industries. The Act would extend and enlarge credits in various renewable energy sectors, such as plug-in hybrid vehicles; appliance, home, and commercial building efficiencies; wind, biomass, solar, marine energy; biodiesel production; and alternative fueling stations. The Act would issue bonds for renewable energy projects by public power providers and green community programs. H.R. 5351 now moves to the Senate where we must ensure it does not suffer the same fate as a similar bill before the Senate on December 13, 2007. Then, the Senate voted on Amendment to H.R. 6, the Renewable Fuels, Consumer Protection, and Energy Efficiency Act of 2007, which contained key components of H.R. 5351. H.R. 6, however, fell one vote shy of passage, and the only Senator not voting was John McCain. The White House has threatened to veto H.R. 5351. We need Senator McCain’s strong commitment to leadership on global warming issues this time around.

John H. Reaves, Esq.

Dear Partners, I followed John Reaves' lead and I posted this no

Dear Senator McCain,
During the 2000 campaign, I gave you and your PAC, I think, $12,000 and I spent a few days with you and Cindy in Phoenix.

The Climate is warming and all kinds of crazy things are happening. We are in deep trouble. We need your leadership. You failed to vote in December for the Renewable Energy and Conservation Tax Credits which are a small, but essential step to create a sustainable climate. Regarding Global Warming, the science is clear, the time is short, and the political will so far is missing. A vote on the Tax Credit is coming again soon in the Senate, please lead us out of this oncoming global catastrophe.
