UPDATE!

Last night Majority Leader Reid filed a cloture petition to end our opponent's stalling tactics -- a.k.a. filibuster -- and get to substantive debate on the Climate Security Act.

A vote could come as early as this evening or tomorrow (Friday) morning.

CURRENT STATUS: We're watching the whip count. We need the strongest possible vote. Here's where you come in: please call the following Senators (see attached contact sheet) to urge them to VOTE YES FOR CLOTURE.

Democrats: Bayh, Bingaman, Brown, Conrad, Dorgan, Johnson, Landrieu, Levin, Lincoln, Pryor, McCaskill, Rockefeller, Salazar, Stabenow, Tester, Webb

MESSAGE:

• Every Senator should know this vote will be a test: are you for addressing global warming, or not
• A "no" vote = continuing inaction on climate change

N.B. If cloture passes, the rules allow 30 hours of debate (5-6 days on the Senate clock). This debate can include any germane amendments filed before 1:00 pm today.
