Risk Rutstein's Letter

Dear Senator,

Today we dumped 70 million tons of global warming pollution into our thin shell of atmosphere surrounding our planet, as if it were an open sewer. Tomorrow we will dump slightly more. The earth’s temperature is rising at an unprecedented rate.

As this continues, we are experiencing extreme water shortages, increased number of catastrophic weather episodes, devastating wildfires and the extinction of hundreds of animal species. The governments of countries around the world are becoming more and more unstable threatening our own national security.

Senate Bill 2191, the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act will begin the process of creating a sustainable climate. Bold and urgent action is required to alter the path our planet is currently following. Slow or little action taken on this issue at this time will lead to tremendous costs to our economy, health and the security of this country.

We urge you to vote in favor of the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2007.
